Once heading up the custom home division of Miller Construction, managing some of the largest waterfront properties in South Florida, Bentz later created his own company, W.A. Bentz, Inc., which has earned great respect in the community for building some of the finest quality homes in the area. 

W.A. Bentz, inc. is known for highly technical renovations and high end custom homes in Las Olas, Rio Vista and Harbour Beach, with about 25 percent of the business dedicated to commercial projects.  In business since 1978, Bentz has built homes that are considered landmarks in East Coast communities, such as the White House, located on the Intercostals Waterways.

Although he maintains a grueling schedule, with several large scale projects on the table at once, he says reliable staff has made it easier to enjoy his hobbies, which include kite boarding, sailing, snowboarding and going free diving and spear fishing with his two sons.  “I have an incredible staff that helps me run things, but I’m still in the field everyday, because the client expects to see me,” he says.  “It’s important to always remain hands-on.”

Building seems to be in his blood, though, as even in his spare time he enjoys personal projects, such as building a 22-foot Harmony sailing vessel, named Pump Rocker.  “I built model airplanes when I was a kid, “he laughs. “Now I build bigger models, like boats and houses.”
